Good news and bad news altogether for our ever popular Raw Silk Ring Sling.
Good news first
I have got some new colors for our Raw Silk Series. Hence I try to match them up and I get shades which is a little bit different from the previous batch (that is named after the Seasons – Fresh Spring, Red Autumn, Cool Winter).
And since the name we used no longer suit our new colors, I have decided to change the names. Instead of two-words name, I think it is easier to use a single-word name.
Color: Golden combination

Originally the combination was the left yellow matching with a yellowish green, hence was name as Fresh Spring. Now that the green has been changed to royal gold, so the names suggested by our friends in Facebook are Golden, Sunset, Blossom, Honey, Butterscotch, Royal. I personally like ROYAL, what do you think?
Color: Bronze-Orange red

Initially was name as Red Autumn. We change the darker tone to a richer tone as above. This color reminds me of the falling leaves in the autumn so I still think that the name Autumn describe the best for this combination. Shall we maintain this name? Or any names you can suggest?
Color: Greyish Blue

Previously named as Cool Winter, I love this new combination. Using a more striking blue than previous, it is more attention captivating. It also suits daddy who wants to wear their baby as well (that’s hubby wearing my Twin 2 with the previous Cool Winter). Do you think Winter still describe this new color well? Or should it be Iceberg, Sapphire, Cornflower?
Color: Passion Pinkish Red

I think “Passion” describe this color best. This combination is new out of the previous 3. I wanted something in pink shade, so I came up with this. What do you think of this color? Do you like wearing something so striking? Or should I tone down it a bit by replacing with a lighter or dull pink instead? Please feedback.
Now comes the bad news for Mama Patch Raw Silk
We have been using this Raw Silk Material since Mama Patch was born. Not only it is not slippery, many mummies claimed that this sling fabric is very sturdy too, when they use it on bigger baby / toddler although it is one layer.
As announced to all our friends in Facebook, this superb quality Mama Patch Raw Silk actually comes from Italy but my fabric supplier said that they will most likely not import this silk from Italy anymore due to the cost (similar price silk are coming in from Pakistan, India, but quality is just so different). Hence, I have actually bought up everything that’s available here but our fabric quantity is really low :’(
I actually have been searching around for similar silk fabric of same price range in other stores ever since we started making ring sling. However nothing can give me an equivalent quality as what we are currently using. Even if it does, it will cost a lot MORE which ends up with much higher price silk sling for our customers too. Hope I shall be able to find a good silk fabric replacement as time comes.

There they goes, always messing up my stuffs whenever my tailor friend deliver the fresh made cloth pads to me. They boys often start pulling out, piece by piece of the pads, color by color, design by design. This morning, my dear Korkor even took piece by piece to rub while enjoying the softness of the materials on his face, WAHAHAHA! (So now you can be sure of the softness of our cloth pads)
It is indeed fun to see the cloth pads scarttered all around on the floor since they are designed and made in many many soft tone colors. At least that could keep them occupied for a few months while I settle out the details and account with my tailor friend. Once we clear up and stack up the pads, I start to feel tired again, dreadfully looking at the high stacks as I have to find time again, to sit down for hours to apply snaps onto the wings of the pads (during the boy’s nap time).

Guess the picture above tells it all
Instead of having the products made by factory workers, on machines in smoky and noisy environment, all Mama Patch products are produced with so much touch of love, from the babies saliva *joking*, kids yelling, cry and laughter!
Yes, being at stay-at-home mum, I have 3 kids to tend to. Each moment with the kids is indeed very messy, especially when I am working in right in the middle of my living hall in our home sweet home, (sorting out the raw materials, design, rings color matching, packing and stuffs) surrounded by the kids. Thank God I do not have to sew the slings as my tailor friend, Yen will responsible for that.
Even my 5 yr old girl could now provide a lending hand, in someway. Although she is too young for most things, at least she could accompany me to shop for fabric, packing the slings, thread the label and tags, help me sorting out the tiny weeny buttons for the cloth pads, Mama Patch Modern Cloth Pads. She was even telling me luckily I have a daughter so at least there is someone to help out instead of messing up *referring to the boys*!

Experience with Disposable Pads
I am one of the unlucky woman on earth having bad regular menses cramp. Ever since I got my menses during my teens, I have been hating myself being a lady, having to go through monthly torture with not only bad cramp, but itchiness, rashes and extremely uncomfortable. I just can’t stand rushing myself into the loo very very frequently especially on heavy days as I can’t stand feeling damp when the blood gushed out from my body. And worst of all, I keep thinking that my blood stink, and it did not even cross my mind it is the horrible smell actually comes from the chemical in disposable pads.
Realise the Goodness of Cloth Pad
I started off my boys on cloth diapers after being nagged by a good online friend (must really thanks to you, Chanel). It really feels great converting my boys fully to cloth even at night and I thought, why not myself to cloth as well? I was really skeptical about the whole thing at first, but well, no harm trying anyway. I started myself with cloth pad on lighter days and slowly brave myself to use cloth even on my heaviest flow. I was really amaze to realise that even a piece of thin cloth pad can actually absorb so much better than disposable!
From then on, I have been fully on cloth. Not only it saves more (disposable pads are really expensive in long run), but I just love the comfort of wearing cloth pad. Gone were the days of my damp and discomfort experience and I have never turn back to disposable ever since.
Washing Part
You will be so surprise to know that our blood does not stink at all. It is actually the chemical that makes us stink. I love washing my own pad and each time I do, it somehows gives me a kind of satisfaction for saving the environment.
- Whenever I change to a fresh one, I’ll rinse off my soiled pad under running water until water runs clear.
- Then I’ll leave it to soak to remove stain.
- Toss into machine and just wash it as how I do my undies together with the laundry.
Healthier living for our new generation
Wearing cloth is so much healtier too. Now I know how my boys feel wearing cloth diapers instead of disposable diapers. Realising the benefits of cloth, I will surely put my girl on cloth too, in future so that she could have a healtier, comfortable growing up journey in her life.

Although silk is more prefered when it comes to choosing a ring sling in the west, I find that people in our country somehow prefers cotton. Not sure if it is lack of knowledge on types of silk, or somehow most of us think that silk is hot and sticky. I have been learning a lot about silk and till today, I still cannot find any fabric that is more comfy than the silk I am currently using for Mama Patch Ring Sling.
Although Mama Patch Ring Sling has got a range made from very good sturdy cotton fabric, I am still searching for alternative cotton material for Mama Patch Ring Sling. Perhaps I should check out cotton sateen that is available in our fabric store to see if it suits sling making.

I have been doing a lot shopping lately, searching for the best material for Mama Patch sling. Hoping to come out with something best for Mama Patch mummies,
guess the above picture reveals all. The boys are getting into their 9th month. Very very soon, they will be able to crawl, then cruise and run! My maid and I have been wearing the twin boys since their first outing. Having bad experience with QQ, I somehow had a feeling that my boys will not settle well in their car seat or strollers. True enough, they do not (until today!)
Now, sling is a must wherever we go. Not only it takes their weight of my hands, it has also helps me a lot when I breastfeed them in the public.
Knowing the benefits of baby wearing, this practice has become so common and popular in advance country such as Japan and US. If only I can reach out to more mummies out to wear their baby besides looking real good !
Hence, Mama Patch @ www.mamapatch.com is born.
