Good news and bad news altogether for our ever popular Raw Silk Ring Sling.
Good news first
I have got some new colors for our Raw Silk Series. Hence I try to match them up and I get shades which is a little bit different from the previous batch (that is named after the Seasons – Fresh Spring, Red Autumn, Cool Winter).
And since the name we used no longer suit our new colors, I have decided to change the names. Instead of two-words name, I think it is easier to use a single-word name.
Color: Golden combination

Originally the combination was the left yellow matching with a yellowish green, hence was name as Fresh Spring. Now that the green has been changed to royal gold, so the names suggested by our friends in Facebook are Golden, Sunset, Blossom, Honey, Butterscotch, Royal. I personally like ROYAL, what do you think?
Color: Bronze-Orange red

Initially was name as Red Autumn. We change the darker tone to a richer tone as above. This color reminds me of the falling leaves in the autumn so I still think that the name Autumn describe the best for this combination. Shall we maintain this name? Or any names you can suggest?
Color: Greyish Blue

Previously named as Cool Winter, I love this new combination. Using a more striking blue than previous, it is more attention captivating. It also suits daddy who wants to wear their baby as well (that’s hubby wearing my Twin 2 with the previous Cool Winter). Do you think Winter still describe this new color well? Or should it be Iceberg, Sapphire, Cornflower?
Color: Passion Pinkish Red

I think “Passion” describe this color best. This combination is new out of the previous 3. I wanted something in pink shade, so I came up with this. What do you think of this color? Do you like wearing something so striking? Or should I tone down it a bit by replacing with a lighter or dull pink instead? Please feedback.
Now comes the bad news for Mama Patch Raw Silk
We have been using this Raw Silk Material since Mama Patch was born. Not only it is not slippery, many mummies claimed that this sling fabric is very sturdy too, when they use it on bigger baby / toddler although it is one layer.
As announced to all our friends in Facebook, this superb quality Mama Patch Raw Silk actually comes from Italy but my fabric supplier said that they will most likely not import this silk from Italy anymore due to the cost (similar price silk are coming in from Pakistan, India, but quality is just so different). Hence, I have actually bought up everything that’s available here but our fabric quantity is really low :’(
I actually have been searching around for similar silk fabric of same price range in other stores ever since we started making ring sling. However nothing can give me an equivalent quality as what we are currently using. Even if it does, it will cost a lot MORE which ends up with much higher price silk sling for our customers too. Hope I shall be able to find a good silk fabric replacement as time comes.

oh dear, I can’t believe that I actually forgot to post this on my blog.

1st stage: Trial fleece pads
As the awareness of using cloth pads is increasing, we now also make more premium pads besides flannel pads. We started off with using microchamois as the top (where we wear it next to our delicate skin). This material is almost stain-free and very easy to wash.
To absorb better, we use imported microfiber from US. Not only it can absorb better than any other materials, it dries quickly as well (even under a fan when I forgot to bring it out to sun one day).
For bottom, PUL (same waterproof layer used on our baby’s cloth diaper) is used so leakage through the bottom is unlikely to happen. Our fleece pad is very suitable for anyone with heavy flow and also during postpartum.

2nd stage: Trial suede cloth pads
On the 2nd stage, we replaced microchamois with Suede Cloth. See our stitches are getting better? Even the shape of the pad is much prettier!
Many claimed that they love our suede cloth pads. Stain is easy to remove and it dries even quicker than our fleece pad (Note that suede cloth has less fury surface and is thinner and smoother than fleece). However one customer actually feedback that her suede cloth got stained and because it is white in color, it is very obvious to the eyes. I had no choice but to stop producing pads with suede cloth at the moment, until I get more satisfactory feedback again from some ladies who had experimented with these pads.
And finally, we are back to produce more Fleece pads!!

Fleece Pads Regular 9″ and Night 11″ is finally launched!
Since many claimed that it is so effortless to wash, we decided to use only light/plain color microchamois for our fleece pads. To beautify the pads and make it even more elegant, we match the bottom with one of the most renown designer fabric , floral PUL from Robert Kaufman.

Besides producing Regular 9″, we also make Night 11″ which is very suitable for postpartum use too. However these prints are limited, so grab quick before we run out the same prints again!

Soakers (reversible) – (top piece only. A MUST HAVE FOR ALL CLOTH PAD USERS)
If you have not seen our Washable Soaker (made of 3 layers flannel), you must really check this out. Priced at only Rm8/pc, many of our cloth customers find this soaker so useful on their heavy days. Tips collected from Mama Patch Cloth Pad Users:
- By adding a piece of this on top of the pad of your regular pad, it will last longer especially on outings so you do not have to change so often
- Instead of changing every fresh piece which could be costly, you can just remove your soaker and continue using the fresh one at the bottom.
- Get frustruated when you oozed out the jelly blood clot AGAIN just after a fresh change? With a soaker on top, you just have to simply remove this little soiled piece instead changing the whole pad.
These soakers can also be used as liners as long as you remember to hold it on when you go to the loo. However they are not recommended since it comes without a snap and it could easily slip into the toilet when you remove your undies.

Due to overwhelming response to our floral prints, we now extended our range of these prints to cloth liners as well. Also to thank to the support of some of our regular customers, we now accept custom order (just let us know your desire length for pads/liners and we will make them for you) for the day pads and liners too. Just allow us about 3 days to do them nicely for you.

Custom Sized Liners and Pads (FLORAL PRINT – blue/red)
To make sewing easy for custom order, each design will come in a pack of 5 (of same measurement for same color pads/liners). For instant, if you like longer liners, say at the measurement of 7.5″ length for blue floral, then u can order in 5 pcs/pack. If you wish to find out more, feel free to write to us at mama_patch@yahoo.com for a quote.

Woven damask label with FUSHIA Pink flower

Woven damask label with PURPLE Pink flower
One of the woven label will be chosen and used on Mama Patch future cloth diapers. I somehow feel that FUSHIA looks too feminine. But I love the striking pink! Jess said RED even better.
How about you?

De Pastel (Celery) Ring Sling
After wearing Ring Sling with long tails, I decided to test some sling with shorter tails. Using matching light color tones of Shantung Silk, De Pastel is designed with a pointed tails and light embroidery at the borders.
Surprisingly, some friends commented my RS looks better with shorter length. As oppose to longer tail, shorter tail gives a neater and fresher look too. And I personally feel it is so much safer as I do not have to worry about the tail of my sling get caught into the going up escalator. What do you think? Do you prefer shorter or longer tails when you wear your sling?
